Keratinizing squamous cell carcinoma is a histological variant of squamous cell carcinoma characterized by the prominent production of keratin. The neoplastic squamous cells form circular whorls around central pearls of keratin. The cell shapes are usually bizarre; the nuclei are large, irregular and hyperchromatic. Other typical features are intercellular bridges, keratohyaline granules and cytoplasmic keratinization. Necrotic debris is present1
