8120/3 Urothelial carcinoma, NOS

Definitions

Urinary system: Renal pelvis, ureter, bladder, urethra
ICD-O-3 topography code: C65-C68
ICD10: C65-C68

A malignant neoplasm arising from the transitional cell epithelium lining the renal pelvis, ureter, bladder and urethra. It may or may not have a papillary configuration. It is graded 1 to 3 or 4 according to the degree of cellular differentiation and architectural patterns. Grade 1 urothelial carcinoma is histologically benign but it may recur.

Prostate gland
ICD-O-3 topography code: C61
ICD10: C61

A malignant neoplasm arising from the transitional cell epithelium lining the renal pelvis, ureter, bladder and urethra. It may or may not have a papillary configuration. It is graded 1 to 3 or 4 according to the degree of cellular differentiation and architectural patterns. Grade 1 urothelial carcinoma is histologically benign but it may recur.

Cervix uteri
ICD-O-3 topography code: C53
ICD10: C53

Transitional cell carcinoma of the cervix is a rare tumour characterized by cells resembling urothelial transitional cells. It may contain malignant squamous elements (squamotransitional carcinoma). The tumour shows a papillary architecture with fibrovascular cores bordered by atypical epithelium which resembles cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, grade III (CIN III). HPV type 16 is typically detected1

ICD10: C57

A malignant neoplasm arising from the transitional cell epithelium lining the renal pelvis, ureter, bladder and urethra. It may or may not have a papillary configuration. It is graded 1 to 3 or 4 according to the degree of cellular differentiation and architectural patterns. Grade 1 urothelial carcinoma is histologically benign but it may recur.

Corpus uteri
ICD-O-3 topography code: C54
ICD10: C54

Transitional cell carcinoma of the uterine corpus is a very rare endometrial carcinoma composed to 90% or more of cells resembling urothelial transitional cells. Admixed with the transitional cells are is another type of carcinoma, most frequently endometrioid adenocarcinoma. The transitional cell component has a papillary or polypoid growth pattern and may infiltrate the myometrium.
The median age of patients is 62 years (range 41-83 years). Patients typically present with uterine bleeding. The tumours seem to respond to radiation therapy more favourably than other endometrial carcinomas
