/span>ast cell sarcoma is extremely rare and characterized by a localized and destructive growth of highly atypical mast cells, which can be identified only after application of appropriate immunohistochemical markers, particularly anti-tryptase and anti-CD117. Although initially localized, distant spread followed by a terminal phase resembling mast cell leukaemia (MCL) is seen after a short interval.
