Periosteal (juxtacortical) chondroma is a benign hyaline cartilage neoplasm of bone surface that arises from the periosteum.
Enchondromatosis is part of Ollier disease , a non-inherited developmental disorder caused by failure of normal enchondral ossification and characterized by asymmetric cartilaginous masses (enchondromas) in the metaphysis and adjacent regions of the shafts and flat bones, with varying degrees of bone deformity. Maffucci syndrome combines the features of Ollier disease associated with angioma of the soft tissue.
