Infiltrating basal cell carcinoma is a variant of basal cell carcinoma presenting as a pale, indurated plaque, usually on the upper trunk or face. The tumour is poorly delineated and composed of strands, cords and columns of basaloid cells which infiltrate the dermis. Perineural invasion is common and the basaloid cell infiltrate may extend into deeper tissues1
